Review
Big Drill Car at their silliest/pop-punkiest? It starts that way, with a clever belch during the intro to No Worse For The Wear but then tucks into a solid alterna-power-pop tune with a catchy melody, a guitar solo, and a couple stop/start dramatic moments. Big Drill Car sort of straddled the Alternative/Punk lines and ended up kind of missing both scenes in the 90's, I think. At least, missing a notoriety in either. Anyways, the title track ends a little too early and maybe could use a bit more drama other than a screamy outro but it is a relatively good time. The B-side is a let down for me, though as it delves deep into a southern rock sound and some twang pops up in the vocals. It almost leans Primus-y and seems like it is just a joke weird song for weirdness sake, which would have been cool with the alternative kids, I think, but it makes me sad to have it finish up my listen to this record. It definitely drags this record down a star.
