Review
Man, the mid 90's hardcore-band-with-emo-lady-singer movement was amazing. Okay, maybe it was only a few bands, but the ones that are out there are all pretty great. Except maybe Copper. Copper is more like hardcore band with the singer of the Cranberries (but way more subdued, because she's pretty awesome) singing early Green Day lyrics about relationships. The first track of this 7" is lacking in poetry, is all I'm saying. You can only say "You crush me with your smile" so many times until you're out of high school. I really like the bass tone, though. Solid mid-90's twang but still a good full frequency tone.

The B-side solidifies my Cranberries reference as she tries to channel Dolores O'Riordan (RIP!), but doesn't quite lose it enough. There's some interesting work with some doubled vocals and the backing vocals take a step up from ghost-like moaning on the first track to counterpoint phrases which I have always been a sucker for. Yet, I find myself at the end of the song and I cannot remember a single word that was just said. I mean, I know there were words, but none of them stuck.

I had really high expectations for this 7" and feel quite a bit let down. It probably deserves another star from a more impartial listener, but I just can't get into it.

A: Freckle
B: Tuesday's Child
