1.6 Band: Tongue Family Style
Hardcore 7" vinyl
Sunspot (1992, sunspot: 5)
I paid $1.99 for this record.
Rating
(2/5: not super good)

If you like your post-hardcore to be a "little" Fugazi-ish and don't mind a guitar-heavy mix (on my equipment, at least) and a band focused more on rhythms and interesting musical devices than melody and hooks, 1.6 Band may be of interest to you. Though I tend to seek out melodies more, Beef Stew had a nice riff intro with a little interesting chugga-chugga layering to make kind of a polyrhythm over some moderately chaotic staccato drumming. These interesting parts don't really tie together for me, though, and leave the song feeling disconnected to the lyrics. I feel like I'd see 1.6 Band on a hardcore 6-band bill and spend my time going "hm, that's interesting" while the kids windmill around during their set. I want more than interest, though. Similar to my feelings about Fugazi, 1.6 Band leaves me wanting more heart and meaning in their songcraft despite their technical aptitude.

Tracks:
A1: Sticks To The Skin
A2: Let Me Breathe
B1: Beef Stew
B2: Your Restaurant
