a slightly darker version of piebald (circa "we are the only friends that we have" and before), a more political and scruffier mock orange (circa "the record play" and before), or perhaps a poppier, math-influenced hot water music (circa "no division" and before).
bands we are influenced by:
don caballero, hot water music, sunny day real estate, leatherface, jawbreaker, mock orange, piebald, texas is the reason, the who, the clash and many more bands that push the limits of technical and passionate music.
bands we should play with:
the fire theft, verona, akimbo, blue sky mile, treasure state, pretty girls make graves, 31 knots, one carper green, in praise of folly, time to fly, the lights, eyes of autumn, appleseed cast, hot water music, piebald, don caballero, mission of burma, leatherface, mock orange, cap'n jazz, rainer maria, radiohead, fugazi, jets to brazil or pretty much any punk, hardcore, math rock, indie rock or just plain rock band that is doing something interesting or meaningful.
philosophy:
we hope we're doing this for all the right reasons. we hope it isn't because we are just trying to get famous because it isn't likely that we'll succeed in that venture anyways. we hope it is because we want to make some sort of difference. to get involved in something that means more than sitting on the couch playing video games. we hope that we can pull this off.
our goal is to use this avenue to create a message or a reminder or an attempt at exemplifying beliefs. we are on a search for truth through offering possible solutions. hint: this is where you get involved. as we travel towards this common goal, we need our solutions tested. we could play here in isolation in the basement at bartertown forever but this would do no one any good. therefore we play shows and make records as our form of dialogue.
