fashion show
million dollar hippie with a million dollar face,
hemp around your neck and phish on your lips.
you act so poor just to follow a fad,
but you're okay, right mom and dad? |
now i am different, just like everyone else.
i have to be unpopular to be popular.
i must fit to the t.v. screen,
now i am different, just like everyone else. |
alterna-girl with your freshly painted face,
a no doubt shirt and bleached blonde hair.
swirling about at the hippest show,
you wish you could but you can never, ever know. |
now i am different, just like everyone else.
i have to be unpopular to be popular.
i must fit to the t.v. screen,
now i am different, just like everyone else. |
now we try not to preach but we can't pretend
that what we see isn't too harmful.
we cannot change what's in your head
but we can always wish that you were dead. |
now i am different, just like everyone else.
i have to be unpopular to be popular.
i must fit to the t.v. screen,
now i am different, just like everyone else. |

it seems everywhere i look, it's so cool to be as uncool as possible but that in itself has to stay within the limits of the television screen. it's cool to be a "freak" now, thanks to empty-v, but what happens when empty-v decides it's now uncool to be a freak? what of the freaks who have always been freaky? all of the sudden they find themselves demoted to their own world, where i dare say they might have liked it better in the first place. oh what am i trying to say here? well i'm just saying don't be what you are because empty-v or even your closest friends say it's cool, be what you are because you like what you are. |
