slowly she falls away.
neglect has torn her away.
her scarred face is painful to see
but no people stand in her way. |
our mother earth she tells us how to live.
our mother earth she tells us what to give.
she shows us what we're doing wrong.
she told us how to write this song. |
we treat her badly now.
if only we could find out how
to right the wrongs we try to hide,
to change something deep inside. |
our mother earth she tells us how to live.
our mother earth she tells us what to give.
she shows us what we're doing wrong.
she told us how to write this song. |
the people disappeared
but it wasn't them that she feared.
it was the things they tried to do,
unlike the kids like me and you.
we found out what was going wrong
and put it into a song.
they listened, they changed their ways
and we all lived to see today. |
our mother earth she tells us how to live.
our mother earth she tells us what to give.
she shows us what we're doing wrong.
she told us how to write this song. |

perhaps inspired by the band fifteen, i came up with this somewhat cheesy environmental song. it's always good to wish that everyone will just change their ways and everything will revert back to it's natural beauty, but common sense and a look around will tell any intelligent being that such a wish is futile indeed. even if all humans were suddenly vaporized, the earth would take quite a long time to erase the scars we have cut into her surface. i would say it is nearly impossilbe for human life to exist without harming the environment in which we live. european take-over of the world has ensured that reality. |
