the story

finally after all these years we went into a studio and recorded some songs. iank. knew someone from shoreline community college that volunteered to do our engineering for free (and we are quite gracious). his name is robin williams and he's a pretty nice guy. he knew this kid named cameron who was setting up a studio in a secret location and needed to test it out. so we became the guinea pigs for the studio but we got a deal on the price. one wednesday we trekked over to the studio with all our stuff and recorded six songs. first we played "live" without vocals and recorded that. then later in the evening (or should i say the morning), we recorded the vocals over that. we started around 10pm and ended about 4am. then a week or so later we mixed all that crap (well robin actually did the mixing we just nodded our heads and said maybe this or that could be different every once and a while) down to ianj.'s mini disc. all in all for 10 hours and $100 dollars, this is a good recording and a good sample of our sound. the cd that you'll get was sampled from minidisc onto don's g3 and then burned on the same computer. he purchased a cd burner for the occasion (and to provide a cheap way to replace some of his stolen cd's) and we made neat covers, lyric sheets and tray cards and printed them out on his computer. so that's how the cd was made.

now on this cd you'll find spectacular greyscale graphics. what? don't believe me? check out the front and back covers and the tray card in a lower resolution then! also on the cd are six of our best songs. namely, fruitcake (click on the link to check out an mp3 of this song), tear, death of straightedge, chewing ice, maile(tion) and marin. and last but not least is a sample from something. but we want that to be a surprise.

alright, let's get down to business. this cd costs $4 for me to send to you, or $3 if i can hand it to you. pretty good for six songs. but if you can't hack that, then offer something for trade. for example, the infamous ska band "the existors" traded their cd for our cd (their cd is good, you should check it out). and don't worry, we're not making too much money off of this. each blank cd cost about $1, the printing cost about $0.75 each cd, and postage runs about $1. so the other $1.25 or so goes to fill the hole left in our bank accounts from recording and buying cd recorders. once we start making profits (like that will happen), we'll use that money to go into the studio again some time. sound good? i hope so. if you would like to order one of these cd's either fill out our email form and let me know or send an email to [redacted]. then i'll reply and tell you the address to send the money to. if you feel that you deserve a free copy, please email me a 50 word (no more, no less) essay on why i should spend $2.75 on someone i've probably never met. then i will award free cd's to the essays i like best.

alright then, now that that's over and done with, enjoy the rest of the page. and if you're really bored you can check out all the things we tried to release before our cd on the old stuff page. thanks!
