welcome to the first issue of the web-earners.com weekly newsletter.

for those of you that have been around since the beginning, you've seen us grow substantially. we've passed the 2500 active member mark. we've added new features like pay-per-search. we've increased our advertiser base. and that's just the beginning.

we plan on adding new features in the upcoming months. at the end of the month, we will start tracking your referral earnings, so you can see how your referrals are doing. we are looking into hosting a free forum, where our members can leave messages for each other. our long term goal is to add more ways to earn money, like pay-per-signup and advertiser referral fees.

of course, it has not been an easy ride getting here. our january earnings payment has been delayed by a month. our advertiser retention is only so-so. behind the scenes, at least one advertiser has refused to pay for their clicks.

yet, we have worked through these problems. our january earnings, although delayed, will be sent out. we have earned enough to cover the costs of advertiser non-payment. we are adding features to help retain our advertisers.

the future of web-earners.com is a certainty in the uncertain economic atmosphere. we have a very streamlined business model that allows us to operate with hardly any costs. we have the flexibility to adapt to the current advertising trend. most importantly, we have over 2500 members with the faith in us that we can continue. working together, we can make this community strong.

welcome to the third issue of the web-earners.com weekly newsletter.

as you may have noticed, web-earners.com has made a few changes over the past week. the biggest change we made was the switch from database-dependent verification to cookie-based verification. our cookies track how you got to our pay script. if everything is okay, you get paid and we ensure that we get paid. if you're doing everything correctly and you find you're having difficulties, try going to http://www.web-earners.com/user/cookie.cgi. this script will set your cookies to expire at the end of your session. that means you can quit your browser and the cookies will disappear. next time you log in to the site, everything should work fine.

last newsletter, we brought up the issue of switching to quarterly payments. we felt we might be able to keep our payments more on schedule if we did so. we heard from many members regarding this switch. the consensus was that quarterly payments are unacceptable. therefore we are sticking with our monthly payment plan.

as you know, it is difficult for us to make those payments on time. if everything works out correctly, we should be able to pay you within thirty days of the end of any month you earn money in. so far, everything has not worked out correctly. since we're sticking with the monthly payment plan, you can expect our payments to be unpredictable. we will always pay, just not necessarily within 30 days of the end of the month. check the news often for information on payouts.

speaking of payouts, earnings for february will be paid as soon as the funds transfer to our paypal account. this should take only a couple of days. look for your february earnings soon.

welcome to the fourth issue of the web-earners.com weekly newsletter.

over the past week we have been working on improving our cookie system. while it has lessened our dependence on the database, thereby making the site faster, it has given us some troubles. the number of complaints we have received has significantly lessened, so we think we have the problem pretty well fixed. if you ever come across a cookie error while surfing, try reloading/refreshing the previous page. if you can't find a way around it, let us know at [redacted]. be sure to include which error it was and which browser you are using. if you're interested, the only browsers that seem to have trouble so far are Internet Explorer 5+ and Netscape 6 on Windows and the OmniWeb Browser for Mac OS X.

for those of you that haven't checked it out yet, be sure to visit the new message board. we've had about 43 posts so far. we think it is a good way to communicate with staff and other members. we feel the message board helps improve the web-earners.com community by allowing us all to work together.

if you haven't already noticed, there should be a message from [redacted] in your inbox. this message contains your february earnings. for february, we made 1432 payments for a total of $1,023.52. thank you all for your patience through our payment problems.

one last item we'd like to bring up may be unfamiliar to many of our members: our pre-paid advertising program. we feel that our pre-paid advertising program is something else that sets us apart from our competitors. we allow anyone with an acceptable web site to advertise on our network for as little as $0.01 per click. you can buy anywhere from 100 to 10,000+ clicks and we will post your link to the web-earners.com community until it reaches your click limit. you can even transfer your surfing earnings to an advertiser account at the end of each month and get a few extra clicks. this is a great way to effectively and inexpensively get people to visit your site. check it out at http://www.web-earners.com/advertise.html.

welcome to the fifth issue of the web-earners.com weekly newsletter.

this week we've been working hard to meet your demands. we've implemented new features that were requested, like the detailed statistics. we've made the pre-paid advertising even easier to do by adding instant payment. lastly, we think we finally have the cookie problem solved.

we plan to add more features soon. the most exciting to us is a referral link for members to refer advertisers to us. members will be able to get credit for making the community better. when advertisers instantly pay for their clicks, the referring member will earn 5% of the total payment. for example, if a new advertiser is referred by member 0 and purchases 1000 clicks at $0.01 each, member 0 will receive $0.50. while this may not seem like much, we expect our advertisers to return to our program. each time they instantly buy more clicks, the referrer will earn more money.

the situation for international users has gotten bleak at paypal. paypal has stopped allowing withdrawals to credit cards and requires a French, German, American or British bank account for international users to withdraw their earnings. all of this after they have opened up their system to even more countries. international users now have two options to receive their earnings from us. the first is to deny our payments. then, when their country is able to withdraw money, they can request it from us and we will send any unsent payments. the second option (our preferred option) is to accept our payments and simply hold the money until they are able to withdraw it. in the meantime, international users can use their web-earners.com earnings to pay for auctions, purchase items online or even pay for advertising on web-earners.com.

next week, we will be including more information about advertisers in our newsletter. we will be listing the changes to our advertiser base for your information. this way you can see how our community is doing. we'll also be including a stern reminder to all of the inactive members (you know who you are). as we get closer to our limit of 10,000 members, inactive accounts get closer to being deactivated.

this week we started the advertiser referral program. when you log in to your account you will find some new statistics that deal with this program. the most important addition is located right below your member referral link. it is your advertiser referral link. this link works just like any referral link, when someone uses it to sign up you get credit. of course, the advertiser referral link only works for advertisers. when an advertiser signs up using your link and purchases some clicks, you receive 5% of what they purchase. you can find out how much you have earned through advertiser referrals by going to your detailed statistics through the link on the login page. we're very excited about the pre-paid advertiser program, it has been a terrific addition to our community.

this past week has been a week of improvements at web-earners.com. we've added many features that we feel will enhance your experience here.

the first addition you may notice is the more personalized newsletter. you've already viewed your statistics. for those of you with no clicks, we've given you a reminder that your account may be in danger of deactivation. for those of you that have not changed your password, we've included your log in information so that you can log in and do so. we feel these additions will help increase the number of clicks we see, thereby increasing earnings for everyone.

when you do log in, you'll see the next big change we made to the site this week. we have slightly redesigned the log in page. we've moved the pay-per-click and pay-per-search forms to the left of the page so they are more prominent. we've also added some new links and re-organized the informational link list.

our pre-paid advertising program is still going strong. while our list of advertisers fluctuates more often, we end up having more advertisers in the long run. we always welcome more ads. if you have a pay-to-surf program you'd like to share with our community, refer yourself using your advertiser referral link and check out our pre-paid-advertising program.

we hope you had a good mother's day weekend. we've delayed the newsletter so we could spend some time with our mothers.

now for the news.

we've sent out march's payments. many international members are still having problems with paypal not allowing them to withdraw their earnings from their paypal account. we apologize for this difficulty but it is beyond our control. if you deny our payment for you earnings, you can always claim it later.

we have not made many visible changes to the site lately, we've been focusing on perfecting the pre-paid advertising service and activating all the new ads. we hope to add a couple more search boxes soon.

the message board is now pop-up free. we paid the nominal fee to get the pop-ups removed. we have also re-organized things a bit and added a new forum. check it out if you haven't already.

the future is looking good for web-earners.com. we have added many pre-paid advertisers and add more every day. our membership grows in leaps and bounds. the site is working with few major problems and very little down time. overall things are looking good.

we've been working on a problem lately that is hard for us to admit we have: cheating. unfortunately, we have had to deactivate some members that were accruing hundreds of clicks per day by bypassing our cookie system. (pre-paid advertisers had little to worry about from this problem, as the cheaters targeted our big name ads, since they had infinitely many clicks available to take) we now have multiple methods to deal with the problem of cheaters. we may switch our focus from the cookie method to a diferent method we are using. it has worked well in the past few days and provides us with detailed information about cheating attempts. the cookie method will still remain, but our main anti-cheating program will now be the method we are referring to. this will not affect most of our users in any visible fashion, except perhaps speeding up your surfing. we thought you would like to know what is going on behind-the-scenes.

speaking of behind the scenes, we should bring up the payment situation. we have just received a few checks that will allow us to pay the april payment almost on time. we must wait a few days for the funds to reach our paypal account. we can all thank the pre-paid advertising program for helping to cover the cost of non-paying advertisers. that program continues to impress us with it's success.

in this newsletter, we thought we should bring up the recent changes in policy at commission junction. while we have addressed this issue on the message board, we know not everyone reads what we post there. therefore we are choosing to address the issue here.

as you may or may not know, commission junction is one of our advertising providers. they have been our most reliable advertiser and were, at one time, our main provider. recently they have decided they will stop paying per click, beginning in august. they give the reason that pay-per-click advertising is ineffective. we strongly disagree with their reasoning, but we're only one group in their large network of people. it is unlikely that they will change their stance on the issue.

currently, we host two commission junction ads, so this change in their policy is not a threat to our business. we have successfully added our pre-paid advertisers to counteract diminishing commission-based earnings. while the commission junction change is not directly harmful to us, it may be indicative of a larger industry trend. we currently host 5 other advertisements that are affiliate programs like commission junction. to increase the possible earnings for our members, we are increasing our work on our pay-per-signup program. we will still continue to host pay-per-click ads but we will probably be limited to pre-paid ads after a few months.

web-earners.com is committed to staying here for our members. we will remain in business even if we cannot devise an accurate way to track signups and are forced to use only pre-paid advertising. we will continue to work to bring you the best offers on the web and reward you for investigating them. we are a community. working together, we can survive through these tough economic times. please offer any suggestions you have either by email or at the message board. thank you.

this past week has been both troublesome and productive for web-earners.com.

on thursday we implemented a new tracking system that caused cookie errors. on top of this, when we implemented the new tracking system, our sign up form ceased working. we did not fully fix the system until this morning due to yet another problem we experienced: our mail server refused to let us send or receive mail. it took the whole weekend to fix this problem and therefore delayed this newsletter.

we have fixed all the problems and caught up on our email. if you ever experience a problem with our system, please let us know via email or the message board and we will fix it as soon as possible. it is our goal to make web-earners.com the best site it can be. to do so, sometimes we take risks. this past week has proven that those risks don't always work out for the best, but we can fix the problems with help from our members.

this week is exciting for the web-earners.com staff. we have added a significant new feature: pay-per-sign-up. thanks to a partnership with shareasale.com we have an easy way to track leads we send them. we look forward to a lucrative program with them.

the pay-per-sign-up program is slightly different than our pay-per-click program. besdies the fact that you have to sign up for an offer to receive credit instead of just clicking a link, it is also different in how it is tracked. we are dependent on shareasale.com to track the signups for us. this means that unless they tell us you signed up, we won't know it. after we receive notification of your sign-up, then we credit your account. we have added statistics to the sign up page to help everyone keep track. if you think you've signed up but haven't received credit yet, please let us know.

while we welcome the new pay-per-sign-up program, we must say an official goodbye to the pay-per-search program. we kept the infospace box around for some time in the hopes that members would use it and earn some extra income to pay for advertisers that don't pay us. unfortunately, this has not been the case. this week we received only about 700 clicks on the box. since infospace now tracks by clicks on bidded links (search results that are paid for), we earned only $0.12 from them. it is not worth the bandwith to keep their box active. we may add other pay-per-search programs in the future if we feel it is necessary.

one last item about the pay-per-sign-up program. it is not yet available to pre-paid advertisers. we are working on a way to track sign-ups for pre-paid advertisers. it may prove very difficult. we will probably end up having to process the sign up forms ourselves and then send them to the company in question. we will try our best to work something out. in the meantime, interested advertisers can sign up for shareasale.com at http://www.shareasale.com/m-redirect.cfm?bannerID=45&userID=6611&merchantID=47 and advertise their company with the whole shareasale network. if any advertiser uses our link to do so, please contact us and we will share some of the reward with that advertiser. thank you.

after a long hiatus from sending out the newsletter, we have returned to sending the weekly newsletter, though with slight changes. there are now spots available for advertisers at the top ($10 for about 8000 emails) and bottom ($5 for about 8000 emails). we have done away with the advertiser update (you can find all the advertisers by logging in to your account and clicking on "current advertisers"). finally, the newsletter will now be sent on monday instead of saturday.

now for the news.

as you may know, our site service was interrupted on friday, september 7th. we were experiencing large amounts of misdirected traffic which caused our hosting service to temporarily close our site to find the problem. our traffic level jumped from 3GB a month to 36GB a month. we believe this was a purposeful attempt to shut down our site by hackers. we have now taken steps to combat this particular hack and have preventative measures for others like it. we do not expect this to happen again. no data was lost or compromised.

july payments have been delayed while we wait for a check from our main advertiser. they have assured us that the check will arrive by september 20th. we apologize for the delay.

the discussions on the message board have been very heated over the past few weeks. we encourage all members to participate, but please be mindful that these are real people you are talking to. post with respect and please be civil.

one topic of recent discussion has been the paid signup program. we are finding that the tracking devices employed are not 100% accurate. if you have not been credited for a sign up, please contact us with as much information as you can provide about that sign up. we will contact the merchant and get credit for your signup so we can pass the earnings on to you. to prevent non-crediting, be sure you have cookies turned on and have fulfilled all of the requirements for the sign up. we update these requirements from time to time as we hear more from the advertisers.

the past week has been tumultuous for web-earners.com. as you may know, typing "web-earners.com" into your browser does not get you to our site. this is because our old hosting service has shut down access to our site on their servers. we have switched hosting services and in a few days, web-earners.com should work again. in the meantime, members can substitute http://130.94.171.163 for www.web-earners.com to access our site. we apologize for the inconvenience. we are sure that this change will benefit users in the long run.

some of these benefits are already apparent on the temporary site. our site should run significantly faster due to some changes we have made during the switch. our account resetting script is now much more consistent because we have access to a feature we did not before (for interested techies, it's called cronjob). we have increased monitoring abilities that should help prevent future problems with the site. there are also non-essential features included in our hosting plan that we can implement later like pre-built chat rooms.

we understand that the site is not back to full capacity yet. we are getting about 500 clicks a day (about half the normal traffic) and very few new advertiser sign ups. once our name is pointed to the correct server, we expect business to pick up. please be patient with us.

many people have been wondering about the july payment. we have good news for those people: the check has just arrived from our main advertiser for july. it will take a few days for the funds to transfer to the proper places and then we will be able to send the payment. we are hoping this delay does not happen with the august payment.

so far, our new hosting service has been magnificent. we have been allowed to deny access to the hackers that were causing a large amount of traffic at our old hosting service. the extra monitoring services we have here allowed us to clean up our code a bit and improve speeds. thanks to the extra warnings, we've also denied access to a second batch of attempted hacks (aimed at sites hosted on NT servers, something we will never be, but we denied them anyhow). we've received no reports of the cookie error that continued to plague us at our old hosting service. lastly, all of the emails seem to be sent from our site with no problems. our old hosting service lost a few of the automated emails (confirmation email, password resend, etc.).

so far, our new hosting service gets a hearty "thumbs up" from us. we expect this switch to continue to improve the level of service we are able to give our members. for example, they have an affiliate-type program which may allow us to offer web-hosting packages in the paid signups section in the future. we are checking into this and will definitely add this if we can.

on the topic of paid signups, some members have complained about the number of uncredited signups. we ask members to not give up on the paid sign up program. we know it is not perfect and some signups are not credited when they should be. if any of your signups have not been credited, double check to make sure you fulfilled all the requirements (these requirements are dictated by the merchant and may change from time to time) and are receiving the service you signed up for. if so, let us know and we'll research the situation and credit you if credit is due. by contacting us, you help to weed out the programs that cause problems.

speaking of problems, there should be no problem with the july payment being sent out this week. we are waiting for the funds to transfer to our paypal account. we will send out the payments when this process has completed. we already have enough funds to cover the august payment and will send this payment out in the first week of october. thank you all for your patience through our payment delays. we hope this situation does not occur again.

so far, the october advertisement promotion has been going well. we have experienced an increase in the number of click ads we are able to offer to users. keep promoting your advertiser referral link. remember, you get 5% of what your referred advertiser purchases.

over the past few days, there has been discussion about the future of paid signups at web-earners.com. after we put the topic to a vote in the message board, members voted to end the paid sign up program by a slim margin (about 10 votes). since the voting was by no means conclusive, we could not justify removing the paid sign up program for all members. therefore, the paid sign up program will become optional for members.

this change should take effect some time this week. we are working on the necessary alterations to the site now. this change will not necessarily mean that we are able to pay members any sooner (the main problem people had with paid signups was that it forced us to delay payments). since we have been on a 30 day delay for some time, switching to a non-delayed payment plan will require us to afford two payments in one month. we have been moving towards this goal for some time, and will notify members when we are ready to make the switch.

this week marks the first week of optional paid signups. so far, 45 active members have opted-out of viewing paid signups. if you are no longer interested in viewing paid signups, you can change this option by logging in to your account and clicking on "change options" on the right side of the page. if you are indifferent towards signups, we suggest leaving this option on the default setting.

this week is also the first week of our new payment delay option. so far, 39 active members have chosen to delay their payment. remember, this option is reset after we record the payments. this is how it works: when this option is selected, instead of moving your balance to the payment record and setting it to zero we simply roll-over your balance to the next month. this may cause a bit of confusion with te statistics, since your stats for that month will be 0, but will prove to be easier when tracking what you are owed. to use this option, just click on "change options" on the right side of the successful log in page.

this week we've made a couple of minor changes to the site. this week's newsletter will list those changes and include a positive review we recently received.

this week has been a good week at web-earners.com. we have been able to provide our members with a good amount of clicks. our paid sign up program has generated a significant number of leads. apart from an interruption of service problem and a payment error that caused members to be overpaid, we would say this has been the best week at web-earners.com in our recent history.

our site has been growing in leaps and bounds over the past weeks. we now send this newsletter to about 7500 members. our membership has increased to over 9000 users. we have served over 500 different pre-paid advertisements. we have served 68 different paid signup offers. overall, we are proud of what we have been able to accomplish.

this week our membership has grown to about 9800 members. as we move closer to our limit of 10,000 members, we must remind members that inactive users will be removed from our membership to allow new community members an opportunity to earn.

once we get close enough to 10,000 members, we will begin to deactivate inactive members. we will begin with members that have no clicks an no earnings. once we reach a membership where all members have earnings, we will begin to remove members that are not active clickers (at least one click per month). our goal is 10,000 active members. currently, we are at about a third of our goal.

on an unrelated note, we have heard some interesting rumors this week. the one we'd like to discuss here is the rumor that paypal is going bankrupt and shutting down. it is our opinion that this rumor is completely unfounded. we have been using paypal for some time and have had no major problems. they will continue to be our primary payment method until we are forced to choose another.

to dispel or confirm the rumor, we attempted to look up the paypal bankruptcy on major news portals (cnn, news.com, even msnbc). we found no articles about the failure of paypal. we did find that they have recently filed for an IPO (initial public offering of stock). according to an investor report, the have a significant amount of spending cash. we feel these are not indicators of a company going out of business.

if anyone has found concrete evidence of paypal closing down, please pass it on to us.

this week, we've been working on further preventing cheating. while tracking by ip address is very successful, we felt we needed to take all possible steps to prevent any kind of cheating. we have recently added a new anti-cheating program that should help us assure that no one is cheating our system.

however, the transition to this new system was less than smooth. we are still ironing out a few wrinkles with the system. we believe we have most of the errors repaired or worked around. we appreciate the continual feedback from our members, please keep all error reports coming in.

this week, we have been working on improving our advertising system. we have added new features for advertisers and improved our anti-cheating program. more changes are in the works.

advertisers can now control multiple ads with only one advertiser account. this will make it easier for advertisers to add more ads and pay for all their ads by only filling out one form. there were some advertisers with more than 10 ads. this new feature will help them immensely.

an important change is proposed on the message board. we have had multiple offers from advertisers interested in posting adult advertisements on our site. the big news at web-earners.com this week is the poll regarding adult ads. we will announce the results in this newsletter and our decision regarding the topic.

the poll was very successful and received a large response from our members. it also sparked intelligent discussion regarding a controversial issue. we'd like to thank members for speaking about this topic in a rational manner and staying away from personal attacks. we received 448 votes on this subject and multiple comments. in the end, our members seemed to accept the idea of adult ads at web-earners.com, but with some restrictions. the vote ended with 303 votes (67.6%) for the idea of adult ads and 145 (32.4%) against the idea.

now, the hard part. how should we use this information to make our decision regarding web-earners.com content? this was a difficult decision for us. however, we must uphold the democratic nature of our site. if we do not let the majority rule, then we will never get anything done. therefore, we will accept adult ads in the future. however, there will be some restrictions.

before we can accept adult ads, we must make some fundamental changes to our site. this will allow us to accept adult ads and follow the suggestions posed by our members and advertisers. first of all, we will need to determine the age of our membership. while this process is not 100% accurate, any member found lying about their age will be reported to the proper authorities. if we experience a large number of falsified accounts, we will have to employ the services of an age verification service (at a cost to members) such as adultcheck.com. our second modification will be to the categories and options. we will make the adult category optional (like paid signups) so that anyone who does not want to see these ads will not have to. in addition to this, all adult ads will have extra warnings placed in their ad description and will be required to list content. we will not allow any ads that are illegal (according to US laws) and will, in fact, report them to the FBI for prosecution. finally, we will need to set up a system to screen and set prices for adult ads. we will be charging adult ads more. we will also be charging extra for excessive pop-ups/exit pages. all adult ads will be pre-paid. all ads are subject to an advertiser agreement that is strongly enforced.

as long as we are making changes to allow adult ads, we might as well implement changes to allow a second recommendation: increased ad targeting. we will announce more about this feature as we work out the details.

this week, we've added one of the new components designed to entice more advertisers to join: the member survey.

for those of you that have logged in in the past week, you have already taken the survey and helped our advertisers target their ads to our membership. for those that have not, no need to worry, the survey will still be there when you log in next. it only takes a minute or so to fill out and will help web-earners.com greatly.

this week we struggled through our second server change and added a few options to the site in preparation for upcoming additions.

we'd like to thank you all for your patience through our server switch. after fixing the problem that caused so much downtime, we have seen the site run faster and more reliably than before. we believe this trend will continue.

a few members are finding that their bookmarks/favorites to our site do not work anymore. this happens if you are using the old ip address (http://130.94.171.163) as our address. when we switched servers, we moved from this address. please update your bookmarks to read http://www.web-earners.com or http://64.119.169.192/ however, if you use the second link, we strongly recommend changing to the first link as soon as it works for you. if we change servers again, your link may become useless if you use the numbered ip address.

we've added three options to the accounts. the first is the adult advertisement option. choosing this option will allow you to see the adult ads (if they are implemented). not choosing this option will block you from viewing adult ads (you won't even know they are there unless you choose this option). this option defaults to "no". our second added option is HTML emails. we will use this to determine whether members can receive HTML emails or not. currently, all communication from web-earners.com is sent in plain text emails. in a few weeks, we will start sending the newsletter in HTML or plain-text format, depending on this option. this option defaults to "no." the final option is something we have been considering for some time. selecting this option allows your upline to contact you. we have not yet worked out the details of this feature. our idea is to allow members to contact willing downlines to remind them to use our service and stay active. we will probably implement this by having pre-written emails, sendable only once a month from uplines to downlines. this option defaults to "no", as well. this feature is still in early planning stages.

we have more improvements coming soon. we are working on a slimmed down site design (for a sneak peek, visit http://www.web-earners.com/test/test_new.html) and increased targeting for advertisers. the future is looking good for web-earners.com.

welcome to the first newsletter of the year 2002.

at this time, i've resumed development on the site and am working on the site re-design and minor improvements. i have the site design approximately 60% done. the new design will greatly reduce our bandwith usage as it has even fewer images. it is upgraded to incorporate cascading style sheets for easier changes in the future and to add some interesting design features for recent browsers. the new design has been tested in various browsers and works as well as the old design.

i hope to have the new design operational in the next few weeks. after this is done, i'll be adding a more targeted version of the program for advertiser that requested it. i'll also be adding a few new minor features. i welcome suggestions on the message board.

(i apologize if you receive this twice, i tried something new and it didn't work.)

this week i have come to a decision. i am going to sell web-earners.com.

while i continue to work on and upgrade the site, the past month or so has made me realize i do not want to do this for the rest of my life. without getting too personal, suffice it to say that my career path lies elsewhere and i probably should have been working towards that all along.

so, what happens to web-earners.com? i will continue to maintain and improve the site until it is sold. if i cannot find a buyer by august of this year, i will put the site up for auction. if it is not purchased at auction, web-earners.com will close in september of this year. i do not expect this to happen, however.

i appreciate the support of the members and advertisers over the past year and one month. until the site is sold, i will continue to provide the service you have come to expect. i will also help the new owner understand the reasons why the site is successful and help to provide support to the new owner if the business sells for a reasonable price.

more information on the terms of the sale will be available once the site re-design is completed. i will also answer questions via email regarding the sale but have not yet ironed out the final terms i wish to ask for.

members should have received their payment for february last week. if not, please email [redacted]. february was an excellent month for traffic and earnings. members earned $901.56 for february. 3797 members earned at least $0.01. for those interested in profits, the site earned about $820 last month. we showed 4,593,402 html pages last month for a total of 5.3 gigabytes of traffic. this averages out to 164050 pages a day. there were an average of 9458 unique visitors a day.

there are a few changes to the click price system in the works. once it is finished, it should bring in more revenue. here is the price sturcture i am considering (in advertiser payments):

$0.01 regularly approved click
$0.02 regularly approved clicks with more than two pop-ups/exit pages
$0.02 targeted click (two target categories, for example, age and interest)
$0.03 super targeted (multiple categories)
$0.03 targeted with more than two pop-ups/exit pages
$0.04 super targeted with more than two pop-ups/exit pages
$0.05 adult ads (if implemented)

members would receive 40% of these prices. i welcome feedback on this pricing either via email or the message board. i feel the availability of increased targeting will attract more advertisers and increase earnings for everyone. i hope to have this feature implemented soon.

one problem to report this week: a link with far too many pop-ups. one of the links on our site spawned as many as 10 new windows. this link has now been deactivated. however, it was approved by me as a test of these types of links. note to advertisers: if you want action on your site (click this banner, click a search result, etc.), don't include more than two pop-ups. the increased loading time for these windows will cause members to not want to perform the requested action.

i am working on a system that will encourage fewer pop-ups and offer more services to advertisers at the same time. i haven't had much time to work on it lately, but should make progress soon.

this week, i'd like to share a preliminary monthly profit report. these numbers are not final reports, but just an idea of what web-earners.com can earn in a month. the lack of profit for march can be explained by a few factors, a decrease in advertising and some extra expenses like web hosting fees being the most important two. at any rate, here is what web-earners.com has earned in the first third of this year:

if things continue in this manner, we'll make about $9000 in profit this year, an increase of about $2000 or 28% over last year. so far, we have brought in $6915.31 from advertising and paid out $3063.50 to members.

in preparation for further negotiations on the sale of web-earners.com, i have updated the sale information pages to reflect recent months. the pages are located at http://www.web-earners.com/sale.html i have added profit/loss information up to may of this year and updated the member statistics listed there to reflect recent trends.

members may also notice that the asking price for web-earners.com has come down a bit. i am now asking $10,000 for full transfer of the site to a new owner. this price should be easy to earn in one year of operation of the site as it stands now. with more dedication to the site, it can earn much more.

speaking of dedication, i will, unfortunately, have to devote less time to the site in the coming months. i am starting school next week and have committed to full time work as well. therefore, support response may be slower, especially at the start of the week.
