Excellent couch co-op action RPG experience with cute lil' cats!
I played the Cat Quest Trilogy in the classic wrong order: middle first, then prequel, then second sequel. Think Star Wars trilogies. And just like Star Wars trilogies, the middle one is the best. This version of Cat Quest also includes... a DOG! And you and your couch co-op partner can finally bring together these traditional opposites to hack and dodge and magic your way to stopping the tyranny afoot in this sort-of-medieval fantasy land. A bit Zelda-ish but in an isometric 3-d environment with fine graphics and music to accompany your adventures.
Co-op is definitely the preferred way to play this game as the solo version is a bit unwieldy to get the hang of controlling both characters and strategy can be worked out verbally instead of just hoping the computer does the right thing. I could also do without about half of the cat and dog puns but I get that the devs have made a choice and are sticking with it. The dungeons, quests, and other adventures are all perfectly acceptable if a little repetitive by the end. In general though, it is fun, cute, and looks and sounds great. What more do you need?
A purrfectly good game to play with a friend in real life.
