A moody little fishing/rhythm game with plenty of fetch quests for the whole family.

So, you're a fisherman (sorry, gender non-conforming folks). And you've got a boat. It's dark and foggy sometimes and the fish are sometimes weird. It's a little hard to drive your boat, but boats are notoriously wiggly. There's some folks on the islands and they want you to catch some fish or dredge up some shiny things for them. You do, and then the game is done. There's also a bit of story, I think, but there were to many boxes that I think I skipped to really get it. Also, my brain is turning to mush with age.

Look, Dredge is a fine game. It looks pretty good, it has some decent gameplay mechanics, and it's a solid few hours of chill time. It just didn't hook me (pun very intended). I think still drawings of characters and text boxes might not create enough engagement for me anymore. To be fair, I did just finish up the wonderful Dave The Diver and reveled in the wonderful characters there, so the folks in Dredge were just flat (again, pun super intended). I built up my boat a bit, did a few side quests, and explored a bit, but mostly I just got tired of catching random fish for random people.

If you're tired of fetch quests and you need some depth to your characters (dang, I'm really on it with the puns today), give this a pass. Otherwise, it's an okay choice to while away a few hours.

If you like this page, you can buy me a coffee.
