Did you know quietus is a real word? Well, just like this game, it's pretty but didn't really mean that much to me, I'm afraid.

You cannot deny that Ender Lillies looks great and has a moderately interesting idea for a gameplay mechanic. Everything is somber and brooding except our hero who gleams with inner light. She double-jumps and dashes her way around a non-linear map to find sad monster/ghosts to slay and set free but she does so by using the spirits of various things to act as her weapons. That's the interesting idea in the beautiful world!

However, I just couldn't fall in love with the platforming or the exploring and the story didn't grab my attention since I didn't have any connection with any of the characters or really get the premise of why everyone died (it rained, I guess?). Maybe that's because I didn't stick with the game long enough to see it through. After I set a few of the main bosses free, I found myself wandering around looking for the next room but just ending up going in circles and not finding what I was looking for. Sure, I could have looked up the solution online but I didn't feel inspired enough by the pretty scenery and kind-of-interesting attacks to hit that search bar.

If you're a huge platforming (or "Metroidvania") fan and are looking for a wonderful world to jump around and attack things in, this might be a game for you.

If you like this page, you can buy me a coffee.
