bio. exit 177 ianj. -- bass guitar, rarely vocal iank. -- guitar, often vocal don -- drums, very often vocal hailing from north seattle (shoreline to be exact) this trio enjoys playing a type of music they like to call pop/punk/emo/ska. their influences include green day, the mr. t experience, pinhead gunpowder, fifteen, serpico, sunny day real estate, texas is the reason, mephiskapheles, slow gherkin and other pop/punk, emo and ska bands. the kids in exit 177 enjoy many types of music and their love of music comes through in their songs. they take the energy and melody of pop/punk, mix in the emotion and passion of emo and top it off with the style and humor of ska. exit 177 is the name of the freeway exit that the band members usually take to get home. it signifies how when they play music, the three of them become brothers and feel at home. nine months out of the year the drummer, don, is in california going to school so unfortunately they don't get to be together all that much. they have been playing together for about six years now and have only broken up twice. currently, exit 177 does not have a professional demo to offer, but does sell/trade a tape they made themselves. for more information on this tape and on the band itself, check out their website at http://www2.ucsc.edu/people/punkrokr/ also at the website is information on contacting the band but if you're in a hurry and want to get in touch with us (want us to play a show perhaps) then you can email don at punkrokr@cats.ucsc.edu stop by one of their shows and say hi.
