I’ve listened to some of those records I bought. Here are some short reviews. I think I’ll start reviewing my record collection, perhaps like this lady does.
Grieg/Rachmaninoff by piano guy: Not that special. Only sort of okay. Perhaps Rachmaninoff is overrated.
Conquistador by Maynard Ferguson: unlistenable. complete and total garbage. not worth $0.10. ugh.
Russian Guy: pretty awesome. like a Russian Jason Webley, but apparently the songs are about drinking and depression.
Irish Folk Songs: Holy jesus X, this might be the best goddamn record I have ever purchased. I want to give it to Chunk like I thought I would when I first bought it, but I might just have to burn him a CD instead. Seriously awesome. If you come over, I’ll play it for you and your brain will explode. Did you know the human voice could sound exactly like a bagpipe? Did you know that one dude singing is better than a whole goddamn band? And you cannot imagine a sad song until you’ve heard one about a kid who gets married at sixteen, has a kid, and then dies. My god. I would have paid $30 just for this record, had I known. Best thrift store find ever.
My to-do list looked like this on friday:
rally car
spark plugs
bottleworks
rally prep
bills
taxes
school
camera
Now it looks like this:
rally car
spark plugs
bottleworks
rally prep
bills
taxes
school
camera
I need to gather up some supplies for the rally I’m co-driving next weekend, but other than that, I got business taken care of this weekend. I’m looking forward to the rally and to seeing an interesting guest that is coming out to see it. It should be an adventure!
Successes:
got 8 hours of sleep for the first time in a long time
got a lot done
got involved in the rally community a bit.
